The channel sits where the atoll meets open water, and the current that pushes through keeps the reef in exceptional shape. Visibility is typically outstanding — the kind where you can watch the wall curve away beneath you and still see clearly to the bottom.
Hard and soft corals cover the wall, with reef fish stacked in the current throughout the dive. Grey reef sharks patrol the edges with the kind of calm confidence that makes them easy to watch. Eagle rays make appearances when conditions are right. It’s less about any single encounter and more about the whole dive feeling alive.
Our Experience
The current was running, the water was clear, and the reef kept delivering from start to finish. A grey reef shark cruised by close enough to get a good look, and several eagle rays made a pass that stopped everyone mid-fin-kick. Exactly the kind of dive you replay on the boat ride back.
