Diving With Lemon Sharks in Florida : Lemon Drop & Bucket
If you think Southeast Florida diving is all boats and beach days, think again. Just offshore from Palm Beach and Jupiter, Lemon Drop and Bucket offer a seasonal underwater experience that’s less about scenery and more about presence. These sites are known for one thing—and they deliver: lemon sharks.
This isn’t your typical reef dive, and that’s exactly the point.

Why Lemon Drop & Bucket Are Worth Diving
Conditions here are often excellent thanks to the Gulf Stream flowing close to shore. Clear water, comfortable temperatures, and manageable depth profiles make these dives approachable while still exciting. The sites feature sand, ledges, and scattered structure, creating the kind of environment lemon sharks naturally patrol.
And patrol they do.
From late fall through early spring, Lemon Drop in particular becomes a hotspot for lemon sharks moving through the area. It’s not unusual to see multiple sharks cruising calmly along the bottom, completely unbothered by divers.
Our Experience
We dove Lemon Drop and Bucket with Calypso Dive Charters, and the entire operation was dialed in from start to finish. Morning conditions were calm with solid visibility—exactly what you hope for when sharks are the main event.
Our dive master, Kris, ran a smooth, confident dive and clearly knew the sites well. Christian, our cameraman, captured the action beautifully. And Brandon, our captain, got us on site efficiently and safely—no drama, just a well-run boat.
